Tips to administer medication

Here are my working experiences related to giving medication. Proper medication administration should always follow the five rights: the right patient, the right drug, the right dose, the right time, and the right route. Besides this protocol, I always remind myself taking notes when the doctor or nurse tells me to start giving a new medication. I will write down the name of the medication, the dose ordered, and any instructions they give me on how to administer it. I will check up the pharmacology reference book about the medication, if I suspect the order or not familiar with the medication. After administration the medication, I will observe the patient’s reaction in order to prevent any adverse effect, drug allergic or drug-drug interaction occurring. Successfully following the protocol can avoid many medication errors. Patient will be safe and heal fast, hence, my nursing goal can be achieved.

RPN to RN Bridging

To advance my nursing academe level from diploma RPN to degree RN is my dream, which has been obsessing my mind since I decided to become a nurse. My family and some friends ask me why I spend so much energy and time to pursue a degree. Is it about money? I smiled and kept silent. That’s what they thought. How can I stop people to think that way? Nursing is a combination of art and science. I am not good at science, so I don’t pursue science as my career, but I like to work with people. I like to help people to gain their health of wellness. However, I need to improve my knowledge and skills so that I am competent as a professional nurse. Being a Registered Nurse, I will have more chance to meet and work with all kind of patients. I can perform wider range of tasks. I feel more fun when I can help others with my skills and knowledge. Being a Registered nurse is a challenging and interesting experience for me.

Love nature being healthy

Natural landscape makes people relax. An island, sea, boats, birds, shining sands on the beach and people enjoying sunshine make up a beautiful and active natural landscape. Why people when embracing the nature can be so harmony with nature? Since ancient, astrologist had known that human are made up of elements directly derived from earth. When human die, the fresh turn into these elements and become dust of the nature. Our composition is just simple. Let’s open our arms and embrace the nature. Deeply inhale fresh air and exhale carbon dioxides 30 times everyday. Raise your two arms when you inhale and put down your arms as you exhale, slowly, slowly, and slowly following your breathing rhythm. When you do it close your eyes and image you soul is rising to the air and joins the gliding sea birds. Forget about all concerns you have in your reality life and all troubles you are encountering in your work. Just temperately put them behind you and allow yourself enjoying a few minutes of deliverance.

Is technology helping or hindering when it comes overcoming communication barriers in health care?

Technology is important to improve the quality of life. The using of technology helps to overcome some communication barriers in health care. The use of the e-dictionary can translate into difference languages that helps health care profession to communicate with the people when need translation. Also, the use of Personal control assistant (PDA) helps patients to access health information easily; hence, patients understand better terminology terms and know what treatment plans are available for them. Furthermore, the use of technology can help the health care profession to access information that allows them to seek help from other profession through the intranet easily.
